Aaron Esler Councilling Therapist, MACP, CCC, RCC
Aaron Esler believes the opposite of addiction is connection.
As a trauma-informed and mindfulness-based therapist, Aaron combines professional expertise with the grounded empathy that comes from lived experience. He brings more than twenty years in the helping professions — and over a decade supporting people through recovery, trauma, and mental health — into a practice centered on authenticity, safety, and respect.
Known for his calm steadiness and a quick sense of humor, Aaron helps clients feel at ease from their very first session. He approaches therapy as a collaborative process, using warmth and curiosity to help clients explore what’s been hard without judgment or pressure. His work blends Cognitive and Dialectical Behaviour Therapies (CBT and DBT) with mindfulness and psychoeducation, guiding people to recognize unhelpful patterns, reframe beliefs, and build practical tools for lasting change. He believes people already have what they need to heal — therapy simply creates the space and safety to rediscover it.
Aaron’s career has spanned outreach programs, community initiatives, and private practice. He has worked extensively with First Nations communities in the South Okanagan, where he learned the value of relational, community-based healing and the deep power of being present. Those years shaped his belief that real transformation happens when people are met with compassion and connection, not correction.
Beyond his clinical training, Aaron’s approach is grounded in humility, humor, and the understanding that progress rarely moves in a straight line. He brings a steady presence to the therapy room — one that helps people exhale, reflect, and begin to see themselves through a lens of hope instead of shame.
Aaron holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and is a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) and Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC). He is currently completing registration as a Provisional Psychologist in Alberta. Across every setting and modality, Aaron remains guided by one simple truth: healing happens through relationship — when we feel seen, respected, and safe enough to be real.

Renee Kruger MA, CCC, TITC-CT
With more than 20 years in frontline healthcare, Renee brings a unique blend of lived experience to her work as a counsellor in Calgary. Before training as a therapist, she worked as a nurse in emergency departments, palliative care, addiction recovery, and remote communities across Canada. That experience shapes her understanding of how stress, loss, and trauma impact both body and mind. Renee is a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) and Clinical Traumatologist (TITC-CT). She supports individuals, couples, families, and youth (12+), offering trauma recovery, grief support, chronic illness counselling, and care for those experiencing compassion fatigue. She is especially connected to first responders, frontline workers, and caregivers, who often feel more comfortable with someone who understands the realities of frontline work. Renee adapts her approach to each client instead of applying a one-size-fits-all model. She draws from CBT, DBT, mindfulness, family systems therapy, and thematic map-and-release. Clients describe her as authentic and straightforward — able to sit quietly when needed, provide practical tools for daily life, and meet people where they are. In spring, she will add play therapy training to expand her work with younger children. For Renee, therapy is not about rushing to solutions. It is about creating a safe, respectful space where people feel seen, heard, and supported as they work toward meaningful change.

Jodey Sharman R. Psych
Jodey is an experienced therapist who has helped people of all ages solve overwhelming problems. Jodey is curious about and cares deeply for each person she works with. She believes that disconnection from self and community are often the underlying cause of many problems and illnesses. This is often caused by how we had to adjust to early life traumas. Jodey works with you to help clear the effects of trauma on the nervous system and belief system. Once that improves, Jodey is delighted to help you move beyond survival to enjoying life and love. Jodey does not impose a trauma lens and works collaboratively with you to make your own definition of problems and solutions that fits for you. Jodey uses interventions such as Accelerated Resolution Therapy, a blend of many types of therapies, and intuitive guidance. She wants the right amount of change to happen every session. Jodey works with clients with complex diagnoses, medical leave and return to work, relationship problems, complex traumas (medical, developmental, occupational, religious, etc.) life transitions, grief and loss, and finding your path. She works with seniors and adult children to adjust to changes in roles. She provides education about and preparation for psychedelic assisted therapy and integration after a therapeutic experience. Please book a 20 minute free phone call if you are a new client to talk about how Jodey can help you.

Only when compassion is present do people allow themselves to see the truth- A.H. Almaas
I love working with people who have carried a lot for a long time, the thoughtful, capable ones who keep things running for everyone else. Many of my clients are Gen X and Millennial women who are navigating anxiety, burnout, grief, or the lingering effects of trauma. Some come with stories of religious or relational hurt; others are managing chronic illness, ADHD, or the quiet exhaustion that comes from years of holding it all together.
Therapy with me isn’t about fixing what’s broken, it’s about uncovering the resilience and strength that have been there all along. I work from a collaborative, trauma-informed lens, grounded in nervous-system regulation and polyvagal theory. That means we begin by building safety and steadiness in your body and emotions before shifting toward more cognitive work. Together, we might use EMDR to process stuck memories, narrative or solution-focused therapy to reframe your story, or elements of CBT, DBT, Internal Family Systems, and Somatic Experiencing to support healing and growth. For couples, I draw on Gottman-informed practices to strengthen connection through life’s transitions.
Clients often tell me I bring both steadiness and lightness into the room. We can do deep work but there’s also room for humour and real-life grounding, whether it’s a laugh about a Seinfeld episode, debating if Ross and Rachel were really on a break, or finding parallels in The Office. Therapy can hold both the hard and the light, and I believe those moments of laughter are part of healing too.
I offer in-person sessions in Calgary and secure virtual sessions across Alberta. My practice is LGBTQIA+ affirming, culturally sensitive, and faith-inclusive when requested. New clients are welcome to book a complimentary consultation through our online portal.

Jake Joy Mulyk
I help people untangle the effects of narcissistic abuse and relational trauma—those experiences that quietly reshape how we see ourselves and trust others. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling anxious, depleted, or unsure who they are after years of walking on eggshells. Together, we work toward rebuilding self-trust, restoring boundaries, and reconnecting with the parts of themselves that have been waiting to breathe again.
My approach is grounded, creative, and deeply trauma-informed. I often weave together Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), somatic awareness, and expressive work to support emotional regulation and self-understanding. Before becoming a therapist, I spent two decades as a professional artist, and that creative background continues to shape how I help people explore meaning and self-expression in their healing.
Over the years, I’ve completed advanced training with leaders like Dr. Ramani Durvasula on gaslighting recovery, grief in narcissistic relationships, and the lasting impact of relational trauma. This work has given me both the tools and the compassion to help clients make sense of what’s happened and begin to move forward—slowly, safely, and on their own terms.
I offer in-person sessions in Calgary and secure online therapy across Alberta.
